NAME: Nick Savrinn
When Savrinn graduated with honors from Columbia Law
School, all the prestigious Manhattan law offices
offered him lucrative positions within their firms.
But he turned them all down, opting to return home
to Chicago and do pro bono work on behalf of the
wrongfully convicted.
This career move surprised some of Savrinn’s
classmates, but not his close friends and family.
When Savrinn was three years old, his father was
convicted of a crime he didn’t commit. He served
fifteen years in a maximum-security prison and
returned home having missed most of his son’s
childhood, a broken, changed man. Seeing firsthand
the devastation that a wrongful conviction can bring,
Savrinn pledged to do everything within his power to
make sure no one else would suffer a similar fate.
In
his eleven years at Project Justice, Savrinn has
successfully exonerated nine death row clients
nationwide.
Savrinn is currently working with Veronica Donovan
in an attempt to exonerate Lincoln Burrows of first
degree murder charges.
